EASY HANDMADE GOAT’S MILK CITRUS SOAPS

EASY HANDMADE GOAT’S MILK CITRUS SOAPS

We had so much fun making Christmas Soaps last year that we decided to do it again this year. We decided to take a more natural route this time and used our dried citrus in the goat’s goat’s milk soap base. The white milk beautifully complements the citrus. Kids can easily make these soaps with just a few simple ingredients.

Materials for Easy Handmade Goat Milk Citrus Soaps:

– melt and pour goat’s dairy base (like this ).

– silicone soap molds ( similar).

Citrus essential oil (you’ll find this at many natural food stores or right here).

– Citrus slices dried (see below for instructions on how to do this yourself)

Instructions:

Step 1. Dry the citrus. Cut citrus (lemons, limes, oranges into thin slices of about 1/8 inch). Remember the size of your mold. I used very small oranges to ensure that the pieces would fit. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Place your citrus slices on a wire rack placed on top of a pan, and bake until they are dry. This should take about 2 to 3 hours. The length of time it takes will depend on the thickness and width of your citrus slices. Allow the citrus to cool before removing.

Step 2 Break your soap base up into chunks, and place it in a container that can be microwaved. Stirring the soap base in the microwave every 20-30 seconds will ensure that it is smooth and melted. Stir in a few drops of essential oils into the melted base soap.

Step 3: Have your child help you arrange the oranges in the molds prior to pouring the soap.

Step 4: Help your child to pour the soap base into the molds. It can be very hot, so you should supervise your child or do it alone.

After a few hours, remove the soaps, and you will have gorgeous, handmade soaps with citrus!

It’s so beautiful how the orange peeks out, and the contrast of the goat’s white milk is amazing.

Try adding different flavors to the oils and drying other colorful fruits.

These soaps are simple and elegant gifts. They smell great and can be tied with rustic twine. This year, the kids will be giving them to their teachers.
