Old fashioned handmade natural soaps

Old fashioned handmade natural soaps

I remember I wouldn’t say I liked soaps much in the past. After washing off the soap, I wouldn’t say I liked the feeling of dry skin. I used it for handwashing but was skeptical about using it for bodywashing. My opinion has changed since then. My daily soap of choice is good old-fashioned soap.

Soaps have many benefits. Yes, I am only talking about natural handmade soaps. There’s a huge difference between natural and commercial soaps.

Natural ingredients

Butter and vegetable oils are used to make most handmade soaps (cold- or hot-processed). These ingredients are high in vitamins, antioxidants, and nutrients. Handmade soap, in other words, preserves natural oils. Handmade soap, for example, contains coconut oil, cocoa butter, ea butter, and other natural vegetable oils. They nourish and protect the skin naturally.

Glycerin

Glycerin softens your skin and helps maintain water balance. It does this by attracting moisture. Glycerin is actually created during the soap-making process. Handmade soaps contain all the natural glycerin and produce a rich lather.

During the making of soap, the fats and lye combine to form soap. The natural glycerin retains its original integrity and settles between the soap molecules.

Natural color and scent

Essential oils can be found in natural soap. Essential oils are the only source of fragrance. No synthetic scents, just natural citrus, floral, or woody scents. You don’t need to use essential oils. If you prefer, it can be a non-fragrance soap. If you prefer naturally scented soaps, you can select bar soap scented using a wide range of essential oils.

The same goes for colors. Clays, herbs, or vegetable powders can be used to color soaps. These products are also nourishing.

Old-fashioned way

I love old-fashioned crafts! Soaps included. Handmade soaps can be made using the hot or cold process. Cold processed soaps are made by mixing lye with water (sodium chloride), then adding oils, melted butter, and finally adding natural colors and essential oils. We pour the mixture into a mold and let it saponify for 24 hours. Then we slice the soap into bars and >>cure it for 4-6 weeks.

This process takes a lot of time and effort to make one soap bar. The whole quality of the ingredients is kept inside the bars. Alleluia
