This tutorial will show you how to easily copy your WordPress website and upload it to Google Cloud. This quick-start tutorial was designed for sites running on Google Cloud Compute Engine.
The All-in-One WP migration plugin can save you a lot of time when transferring your WordPress website from one hosting provider to another.
Follow the steps in the video. Check out the images below if you need help.
You should have created a Google Cloud Platform Account and launched your WordPress website using Google Cloud Platform before starting this tutorial.
This tutorial has four steps:
- 1. Download All-in-One WP Migration Plugin
- 2. Export Website File
- 3. Import Website File
- 4. Change Permalink Structure
- Download the WP Migration plugin
From your existing WordPress website, head over to Add Plugins and download the All-in-One WP Migration plugin.
- Export Website File
Activate the All-in-One WP Migration plugin and go to Export To > File.
- Import Website File
From your new WordPress Website on Google Cloud, download the All-in-One WP Migration plugin and go to Import From > File. Choose the export file that you downloaded in the previous step.
By design, the All-in-One WordPress Migration plugin allows only a maximum upload size of up to 512MB. Check out the tutorial if you want to increase your full file size to 10GB+.
- Change Permalink Structure
After you’ve successfully imported your WordPress website to Google Cloud, you will need to reset your permalink structure. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > Permalinks, and select the permalink structure that you prefer (if undecided, use Post name).

Migration of custom domain
You can avoid DNS resolution downtime by binding the active DNS name to your app as described in a data-linktype= “relative-path” href= “https://learn.microsoft.com/en/azure/app-service/manage/custom/dns/migratedomain”. By securing the DNS name of your app to the DNS name that is currently active, you can avoid DNS resolution interruptions. See Migrate a DNS name for more information.
